Leaching characteristics and potential risk assessment of heavy metals Pb-Cd from mining soils in an acid rain environment

چکیده
To investigate the pollution characteristics of Pb and Cd in mining soil, dynamic leaching tests was conducted to explore characteristics. Pollution evaluated using Risk Index (RI) Assessment Code (RAC). The results showed that under simulated acid rain, soil had a certain buffer capacity, pH value solution varied between 5.0 8.5. Heavy metals release also varied, with highest amount dissolved being 2.27 mgꞏL -1 , while relatively low, is 0.93 −1 . Moreover, heavy larger particle sizes greater propensity for dissolution when subjected rain. BCR extraction revealed initial metal status mostly residual. After leaching, morphology changed drastically, residual state reducing significantly. RAC RI indicated moderate risk different treatment conditions.

Background: Metal pollution is a problem in many parts of the world. These metals can be harmful when they exceed the recommended limits. By analyzing metal concentrations in living organisms, it is possible to deduce the bioavailability and the level of environmental contamination for specific metals in an ecosystem. The aim of this study was to determine the heavy metals copper, cadmium, lead...
متن کاملHealth Risk Assessment of Heavy Metals in Soils from Witwatersrand Gold Mining Basin, South Africa
The study evaluates the health risk caused by heavy metals to the inhabitants of a gold mining area. In this study, 56 soil samples from five mine tailings and 17 from two mine villages were collected and analyzed for Asernic (As), Lead (Pb), Mercury (Hg), Cadmium (Cd), Chromium (Cr), Cobalt (Co), Nickel (Ni), Copper (Cu) and Zinc (Zn) using ICP-MS. Measured concentrations of these heavy metals...
متن کاملAssessment of levels and health risk of heavy metals (Pb, Cd, Cr, and Cu) in commercial hen’s eggs from the city of Hamedan
Increasing consumption of chicken products in Iran makes it very important to analyze their residual heavy metal contents; therefore, the present study has been conducted to determine Pb, Cd, Cr, and Cu in commercial hen eggs, marketed in the city of Hamedan in 2016. In this descriptive study, a sum of 27 samples of hen eggs has been collected from the Hamedan City's market. After preparation a...
